What the October 15 announcement says
AkzoNobel and Axalta announced on October 15, 2026 that their proposed combined company would be named Axanzo. The merger plan dates from November 2025, with completion expected in early 2027 subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions, according to the official announcement.
Until completion, AkzoNobel and Axalta continue to operate independently. The name announcement does not change customers’ current service, teams, or brand relationships. Buyers should keep that distinction clear when discussing existing orders and future sourcing.
For powder coating procurement, a corporate name does not define the powder specification. The useful questions remain the exact product, its intended exposure, the approved finish, and the evidence supporting its use on your parts.
Keep the powder and order identity precise
Record the exact powder family, product code, grade, color, gloss, and texture on the request for quotation and purchase order. Ask which technical data sheet (TDS) and safety data sheet (SDS), including revision dates, apply to the proposed formulation. Retain the agreed versions with the approval record.
Use a physical reference panel with an agreed appearance tolerance. A color code alone cannot communicate every difference in gloss, texture, substrate, or viewing conditions. Confirm whether a submitted sample represents the powder being ordered and how later batches will be checked against the approved standard.
Separately confirm the legal entity supplying the order, quotation validity, pack size, delivery destination, and agreed delivery terms. Route questions about existing branded products through the current supplier. Treat any proposed change to the supplying entity or order documents as a specific item requiring written confirmation.
Qualify a candidate on the actual application
When evaluating another powder, define the substrate, pretreatment, service environment, film thickness, and acceptance tests before sampling. Start with a documented candidate formulation and an approved panel, then trial representative parts. Record actual metal temperature and cure time; an oven air setting alone does not establish cure.
Check appearance, adhesion, and other project requirements using agreed methods. Outdoor work may also require weathering and corrosion-system evidence. Interpret results against the tested formulation, color, pretreatment, film build, and cure conditions. Do not transfer an approval from a different coating system without checking its applicability.
The DAMEI technical guide collection supports discussions about requirements, sample approval and production review. Preserve the baseline records so that both purchasing and production can identify what was accepted.
Consider DAMEI powders by service environment
DAMEI offers independent candidate powders for application testing. Its indoor epoxy-polyester range is intended for controlled interior metalwork, where appearance and mechanical performance are evaluated together. It should not be assumed suitable for prolonged ultraviolet exposure. Review the available powder coating products against the actual use conditions.
For exterior metalwork, DAMEI offers pure polyester candidates, with the formulation and durability grade selected for the project. Performance still depends on pretreatment, film thickness, cure, exposure, and validation. These are independent sourcing options; DAMEI does not claim an authorized relationship, identical formulations, or a one-for-one replacement for another supplier’s product.
Build a sample request that can be evaluated
Buyers exploring a sourcing option can use the Interpon alternative evaluation page to frame the comparison. Identify the required performance and finish first, then compare documented samples against those requirements. A supplier name or familiar color reference is insufficient evidence of technical equivalence.
To discuss a DAMEI candidate, contact the technical sales team with the substrate, service environment, reference panel, required tests, line conditions, and expected order volume. Agree on the acceptance criteria and documentation before a production order. The next decision should follow the trial evidence.
